Marco Island, Florida March 3 - 5, 2005 Emergency medicine in general practice with Tim Hackett D.V.M. Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Howard Seim D.V.M. Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons Colorado State University
Marco Island There is a texture to life everywhere in this remarkable corner of the world. The fine white sand slips between your toes as you explore the miles of shoreline surrounding Marco Island. Exotic shells are delivered fresh daily by the currents of the Gulf where swimmers delight in year-round warmth and placid waves. The virtual guarantee of idyllic weather makes these waters home of boats of every description. Flats boats skitter to secret backwaters while sleek yachts fill their sails in gentle breezes. Dive boats, sightseeing launches and dinner cruises all go their separate ways in this vast expanse of bays and rivers, islands and sea.

The Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort offers guests an array of choices for dining, shopping, recreation, and entertainment. From a variety of water sports including sailing, parasailing and jet skiing to land-bound favorites like tennis, volleyball, and championship golf, sports enthusiasts will appreciate the many choices that await them at the tropical island resort with its warm Gulf stream waters. Guests may choose to relax in the crystal clear swimming pool or invigorating sauna, or to enjoy our 4,000 square foot Fitness and Recreation Center with fitness room, aerobic studio, game room, sauna and professionally staffed children's program. The resort offers the largest guest rooms on the island, each of the 264 Junior Suites feature a private furnished balcony and sleeper sofa. In addition to the Junior suites there are 29 gulfview one bedroom suites, and 4 gulfview two bedroom penthouse suites. All accommodations offer a coffee maker, mini refrigerator, and mini bar.
The Everglades As far as the eye can see, there are lush hammocks and mangroves, silver water, and an abundance of wildlife found here and here alone. Watch as life plays out in a broad panorama, rich in diversity and color. See a red anhinga skewer a fish with its bill, toss it into the air, then swallow it with practiced precision. Below, a manatee drifts at its quiet, glacier-like pace. And somewhere out there, a rare Florida panther stares with an intense interest that rivals your own. Explore the 1.5 million acre Everglades National Park within an ecosystem seven times that size. This world south of Lake Okeechobee is a 50-mile-wide river only 2-3 feet deep, moving so slowly that a drop of water may take eight months to complete the 100-mile journey from North to South. Experience the unhurried serenity of a place Spanish explorers called El Laguno de Espiritu Sanctu — The Lake of the Holy Spirit.
